Food & Beverage Testing

TESTING BUILT AROUND YOUR PRODUCT, PROCESS, AND GOALS

From startups developing their first testing plan to established manufacturers managing routine quality programs, at Biotrax Testing we support food and beverage businesses at every stage.

Our laboratory provides third-party testing and support for raw materials and ingredients, in-process samples, finished products, production environments, shelf-life studies, and quality investigations.

You do not need to have every test or method selected before contacting us. Tell us what you produce, where the sample comes from, what you need to learn, and whether you are working toward a customer, regulatory, or internal requirement. Our team can help clarify relevant testing options, sample requirements, and important limitations before testing begins.

FOOD & BEVERAGE TESTING IS NOT ONE-SIZE-FITS-ALL

Food and beverage testing is not a single test or standard program.

The appropriate approach depends on the product, production process, potential hazards, customer requirements, applicable standards, and the information your team needs.

Testing may be used to:

  • Evaluate raw materials, ingredients, in-process samples, or finished products
  • Support routine product-release and quality programs
  • Verify sanitation and allergen-control procedures
  • Monitor production environments
  • Investigate a product, process, or facility concern
  • Evaluate shelf life, stability, or quality changes
  • Support product development and customer requirements
  • Generate data for food-safety and quality-program verification

The purpose behind the request should shape the testing approach. Start by telling us what you are trying to confirm, monitor, investigate, or document.

REQUEST TESTING SUPPORT

FROM RAW MATERIALS TO FINISHED PRODUCTS

Testing needs can arise throughout the production process—not only after a product is complete.

RAW MATERIALS & INGREDIENTS

Testing can help evaluate incoming materials against internal specifications, supplier requirements, customer expectations, or identified food-safety and quality concerns.

IN-PROCESS SAMPLES

Samples collected during production can help teams monitor process performance, investigate deviations, evaluate sanitation controls, or identify where a concern may be developing.

FINISHED PRODUCTS

Finished-product testing may support product-release decisions, specification review, pathogen and quality monitoring, allergen verification, customer requirements, and shelf-life evaluation.

PRODUCTION ENVIRONMENTS

Environmental samples collected from surfaces, equipment, air, and other areas of the facility can help verify sanitation procedures, monitor conditions, identify trends, and investigate potential concerns.

PRODUCT SAFETY & QUALITY

Testing may also continue after production through retained-sample analysis, shelf-life studies, complaint investigations, and follow-up testing.

WHY FOOD & BEVERAGE TESTING MATTERS

BETTER TESTING SUPPORTS BETTER DECISIONS

Food and beverage testing provides more than a result on paper. It can help identify potential concerns, verify sanitation and process controls, support product-release decisions, monitor changes over time, and generate documentation for food-safety and quality systems.

The appropriate testing approach can help your team answer questions such as:

  • Does this material or product meet our specifications?
  • Is our sanitation program working as intended?
  • Are we effectively managing allergen cross-contact?
  • Is our production environment showing an emerging trend?
  • Is the product maintaining its expected quality over time?
  • Do we have the information needed to support a release decision?
  • What additional data may be useful during an investigation?

Biotrax helps translate these questions into a practical testing approach.

SUPPORTING FOOD-SAFETY & QUALITY PROGRAMS

Third party laboratory testing can provide objective data for verification and documentation activities within food-safety and quality programs.

Depending on the product, facility, and program, testing may support:

  • HACCP verification activities
  • FDA preventive-controls programs
  • Current Good Manufacturing Practices, or CGMPs
  • SQF and customer-driven food-safety requirements
  • Environmental-monitoring programs
  • Sanitation and allergen-control verification
  • Supplier-approval and raw-material programs
  • Finished-product specifications and positive-release programs
  • Corrective-action investigations and trend review

Testing does not replace a food-safety plan or automatically establish compliance. It provides data that can help a qualified food-safety or quality team verify controls, monitor performance, document findings, and identify areas requiring additional attention.

For applicable quality-indicator analyses, Biotrax uses AOAC methods. Method selection depends on the analysis, sample matrix, intended use, and laboratory scope. Clients can contact the team to confirm the method and accreditation status associated with a specific test.

WHEN YOUR TESTING NEED EXTENDS BEYOND OUR LABORATORY

Not every testing request fits within one laboratory’s in-house capabilities or accredited scope.

When Biotrax does not perform a requested analysis in-house, we will communicate that clearly. Depending on the test, we may be able to coordinate the work through a qualified partner laboratory or direct you to another laboratory better suited to the request.

Our goal is to help clients find a practical path forward—not leave them to determine the next step alone. Before testing is arranged, we can clarify where the work will be performed, relevant sample requirements, anticipated timing, and how results will be reported.

NOT SURE WHERE YOUR TESTING NEED FITS?

Tell us about your product, process, sample, facility, or requirement. Our team can help you identify the most relevant service, clarify what information is needed, and determine an appropriate place to begin.

When the requested work falls outside our in-house capabilities, we will communicate that honestly and help point you toward an appropriate resource.
